300 spears, slashes and slays the March opening record

300

I was predicting 300 to bring in anywhere between $50 and $60 million during it’s opening weekend, but the estimates right now are saying the box office draw is actually up towards $70 million. If the estimates hold, the rated ‘R’ graphic novel turned movie will have snuffed out Ice Age 2: The Meltdown which opened at $68 million. If that wasn’t enough, 300 also surpassed Superman Returns as the biggest IMAX debut ever.

Even though 300 did so well opening weekend, I have a feeling it will only last six or seven weeks in most theaters.

Finally, a good action movie. This should make up for the countless other bad movies I have seen prior to this.

I agree. I’m not sure this has great staying power at theaters. They have my money for a second viewing. In IMAX goodness.

For sure. I’m planning on driving out to an IMAX theater this weekend to watch it. I hope I don’t get stuck in the front row though.

Luckily I only have to pay for it once, because I went into work early Friday morning and showed it privately for myself :).
