Ben Affleck, Jeremy Piven and Alicia Keys in “Smokin’ Aces”
Remember that movie “Narc” from a few years back starring Jason Patric and Ray Liotta? If not, it’d be a wise idea to add it to your Netflix queue and catch up on Joe Carnahan’s crime drama. He wrote and directed this masterpiece involving narcotics detectives trying to solve the murder of a policeman.
Well, Joe Carnahan is at it again. This time however, the movie is called “Smokin’ Aces” and it centers around one man called Buddy “Aces” Israel (Jeremy Piven) who testifies against the mob and then discovers a lot of people want him dead.
How hilarious is that? A bunch of people out to hunt down Jeremy Piven, now that’s funny. “Smokin’ Aces” stars Ben Affleck, Jeremy Piven, Ryan Renolds, Alicia Keys, Ray Liotta, Peter Berg and a ton of other well known actors. I shouldn’t even have to tell you to see the trailer, but I will anyway. Watch the trailer.
Judging from both “Narc” and “Smokin’ Aces”, I’m excited to see what else Joe Carnahan has in store for his movies to come.
“Smokin’ Aces” is due out sometime 2007.
I don’t need to see anything else. Ryan Renolds sold me on the spot.
That’s quite the cast. Nice to see a better trailer for it than that short Flash trailer I saw a while back. This one should be fun - wacky as it gets, but fun.
I think the more wacky this movie is, the better it’ll be.
The movie looks pretty interesting. Hopefully it won’t be sloppy - it looks like there’s going to be a lot that goes on in 2 hours.
How much could really be going on? Just a lot of people out to kill Buddy Israel. It looks like the directing is good and should be good performances by all.
