“Casino Royale” — The best Bond since “Golden Eye”

Casino Royale

Some may consider that a bold statement, but being one of the lucky few to have already previewed “Casino Royale”, I have no problem stating it.

Last Friday I was lucky enough to be on shift for a trade show of the latest Bond installment “Casino Royale”. As excited as I was, it was a drag preparing for it. I arrived at the theater at 7:00am to receive the print. Normally, that wouldn’t be a problem, but seeing how I closed the night before and didn’t leave till 1:00am, it was rough waking up on only five hours of sleep.

Nonetheless, I made it to the theater by 7:00am to intercept the print. I built the print, and waited around until the 10:00am show time.

After watching “Casino Royale”, I couldn’t agree more with the direction they took the Bond franchise. Shifting the tone to a darker, more in your face Bond was definitely the right move. The fight scenes felt real and the script, for the most part, was written very well. There were a few dialogue scenes I had slight problems with and at one point in the movie, I wasn’t sure where it was going, but everything eventually came around.

Daniel Craig has been getting all the publicity recently and rightly so because he is the new face of Bond, but one person that’s been left out is Eva Green. I thought she did a fabulous job on screen and looked incredibly gorgeous at the same time. She was a perfect fit for a Bond girl and easily trumps the performances of both Denise Richards and Halle Berry.

Overall, “Casino Royale” is a must see. I can’t wait to see where else they take Daniel Craig as Bond.

I’m not a big bond fan so for me, this is the best Bond….Ever. I’m actually really excited to see this! For once, I may be able to convince my dad to take a trip to the movies with me!

Well, since all of the Bonds have sucked since GoldenEye (and come on, GoldenEye really wasn’t THAT good, it gets major props because it spawned such an awesome game), I don’t find that a very bold statement at all!

    I can’t wait for this.

    Marina –

You have to believe me when I say this Bond deviates from all the others. “Casino Royale” turns the Bond movies into what they should of been a long time ago. Even if you’re not a huge Bond fan, there’s still a good chance you’ll enjoy this movie.

You’ve got to be kidding me! I hold “GoldenEye” in high regards as far as Bond movies go. Sure it may not compete with the good old days of “From Russia with Love” or “Goldfinger”, but other than those two, it’s right there at the top of my list. I mean common, Sean Bean is the bad guy. It doesn’t get more cool than that.

Her name is Eva, not Ava. I’m so pissed about this I could spit. Thanks, now I have spit all over my keyboard.
