New Watchmen footage just aired on Spike during the 2008 Scream Awards. Dare I say this movie looks nothing less than fantastic? Needless to say, I cannot wait for this release. Too bad there’s a pending court battle keeping it out of theaters at the moment.

Apparently, FOX is claiming that Warner Bros. doesn’t have the proper rights. Here’s what the Hollywood Insider has to say:

Earlier this year, Twentieth Century Fox filed a lawsuit against Warner Bros. seeking to stop Watchmen’s release (scheduled for March 6, 2009), claiming that it, not Warner Bros., held the distribution rights to any motion picture made from the material. Today, a judge declined Warner Bros.’ request to dismiss the lawsuit, setting the stage for a possibly ugly legal tussle.

Thus far, Warner Bros. is still holding true to their release date of March 6th 2009. I, for one, am hoping this movie hits the big screens when scheduled and isn’t delayed till the end of the year or possibly even into the next year.

When people think of stellar openers, I’m sure they think of movies like The Matrix where Trinity runs up the wall, kills the cops and runs from Mr. Smith or maybe the scene in Transformers where the Decepticon, Blackout, attempts to steal classified information and destroys an entire military base in the process. Those are all cool openers, but The Way of the Gun still tops them all. Do you think The Way of the Gun holds true to best opening sequence or do you feel a different movie deserves the title? I bet you didn’t know Sean Connery was offered the role of Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings trilogy or that Will Smith was offered the role of Neo in the Matrix. Well, I just read an article on CNN that gave a break down of five movies that would of been completely different had the original choice for lead actor actually taken the role.

I think it’d be hard to judge how some of the roles would of culminated had a different lead taken the role, but to only imagine. Here’s the breakdown:

Cary Grant as James Bond in “Dr. No”
Will Smith as Neo in “The Matrix”
Michael Madsen as Vincent Vega in “Pulp Fiction”
Sean Connery as Gandalf in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

Lists, lists and more lists. I’m always a fan of a good list and this one is by Time.com. This list encapsulates everything from Doom to Super Mario Bros to Blood Rayne. To my surprise, Uwe Boll directed only two of the ten movies listed. I would of thought he would of had at the very minimum four.

Even though I’m disappointed Uwe Boll only recieved two mentions on the list, I can’t argue with all the choices. Here are just a few: Hitman, Doom, BloodRayne, Double Dragon, Street Fighter, and Super Mario Bros.

Lets hear it for horrible movies!

This is always a dangerous time to go see new releases at the theaters. October is notorious for horrible releases. Take this past weekend for example. ‘Max Payne’ and ‘W’ were released, both of which were anything but stellar.

Taking a quick glance at Rotten Tomatoes, their ‘top box office’ list doesn’t include a movie that has a rating over 60%. The list includes shitty movies like Max Payne, Eagle Eye, and Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Last year, the list wasn’t as bad, but pretty damn close. Last years list includes the likes of Saw IV, Dan in Real Life, 30 Days of Night, The Comebacks, and The Heartbreak Kid. To last years defense, Into the Wild was released in October and that movie rocked hard. However, it can’t offset the entire list.

When venturing out to the theaters this month don’t say I didn’t warn you…

Common Marky Mark, seriously?

Max Payne was one horrific movie. I fell asleep for 30 minutes and didn’t miss a thing. The plot was lame, the script was lame, and the acting was even worse. I think John Moore has joined the ranks of Uwe Boll on making awesome video games into piss poor movies.

If I could mention one good thing about this movie, it would have to be Olga Kurylenko. Damn she was hot. I mean, super hot. Good work to whoever cast her.
Moreover, Kurylenko also has a substantial roll in the new James Bond flick, Quantum of Solace. I’d probably go to every other movie she’ll ever star in again, just in hopes that she takes her clothes off one more time.

On a side note, whoever cut the trailer for Max Payne did a phenomenal job. The editing and music are perfect. Too bad the movie wasn’t.

I just ran across this and had to post it. Funniest item of the week. This is definitely a must view. Head on over to Bored Bored and check out the ladies of Sin City, Disney style.

I typically wouldn’t post something so trivial, but I did find it funny that David Duchovny is a recovering sex addict. I mean seriously, how many people go to rehab for sex addiction? Excuse me, I guess the proper term is ’sexual compulsion proclivity’.

The X-Files aired for nine seasons and I bet that was an interesting set to work on. Typically it’s something like, “Lets take a break, I need a smoke.”, but in Duchovny’s case it was like, “I need to take Scully to my dressing room and then have a smoke.” Furthermore, we can come to the conclusion that Téa Leoni is a freak. I’ll give her two thumbs up for that.

Anyway, Billy Bob Thornton was sending Leoni dirty text messages and Duchovny wasn’t okay with that. Nonetheless, it’s probably better for David this way. Now, he can indulge in his ’sexual compulsion proclivity’ without a significant other telling him to seek help. I say good for David. In the words of Regina George, “she’s a fugly slut!”
