Flicka: Friend or Foe?

“Either we hold on until things get better, or I’ll sell the damn ranch”, says Tim McGraw about half way through the “Flicka” trailer. If that line is any indication of what the entire script will be like, we’re all in for a pretty awful movie. Apparently it’s not bad enough to cast Tim McGraw as a main character, but to also have him mutter awful lines from the script must be the icing on the cake.

Maria Bello and Alison Lohman in “Flicka” due out next month

With as many problems as I have with Tim McGraw, I can forgive whoever did the casting due to the fact that they signed on Alison Lohman and Maria Bello. Everyone has always said two is better than one and the saying couldn’t be more true in this case. Not only do they look good, but they can act.

Alison Lohman is probably best known for her three big movies White Oleander, Matchstick Men, and Big Fish. She just turned 27 earlier this month and has never looked better. I mean common, she’s 27 and plays roles for characters half her age. I wonder if she uses that Proactive Solution that Jessica Simpson always promotes on those late night infomercials? I hope not. If she does, that means she’s endorsing Jessica Simpson which isn’t a good thing.

Anyway…back on topic.

“Flicka” also stars Maria Bello. I’ve always been a fan of hers. Her performance in “A History of Violence” was flawless and she also did an outstanding job in “Thank You for Smoking”. Bello is also slated to star in four movies this upcoming year. She’s definitely a busy girl that makes watching movies more entertaining.

If anyone is able to bring “Flicka” together it would definitely be the two female actors.

Overall, I’m not looking forward to the movie, but I’ll give it a chance once it’s released to theaters mid next month.

I totally agree. Casting Bello and Lohman was a stroke of genious. I’m still not sure they can rescue this crapshoot - we’ll have to wait and see!
