Flyboys, Jackass: Number Two, All the Kings Men, and Fearless — Something for everyone.

Quite a variety of movies hit the box office last Friday. Everything from the pain enduring crew of Jackass to the all-star cast of “All the Kings Men” are now in theaters for your viewing pleasure. Some did well, others didn’t. Here’s how they rank.

Jackass: Number Two pushed its way up to number one with ease. Pulling in over $28 million opening weekend sure makes all the injuries Knoxville and his crew endured a lot less painful. If you would of asked me a month ago, I probably would of told you I thought the movie was going to be hilarious, which it is, but that it probably wouldn’t top the box office charts, let alone pull in over $28 million. Either way, Johnny Knoxville is a genius and he’s taking it straight to the bank.

Jackass Fearless
The Jackass Crew in Jackass: Number Two and Jet Li in Fearless

Jet Li’s Fearless ranks in at number two at the box office bringing in just over $10.5 million. Fearless was marketed as being Jet Li’s final “martial arts epic” movie. However, this doesn’t mean he won’t be starring in any more movies. Word is he will be starring in an upcoming film along side Jackie Chan. When it comes to martial arts movies, Jet Li will always be my favorite.

All the Kings Men was a total flop. During my late set opening weekend, I peered into the auditorium where All the Kings Men was showing and was quite shocked at what lay before my eyes. Row after row of empty seats with four people scatted throughout the entire auditorium. How can this be with such an all-star cast? I guess it just proves that big names paired with shotty film making doesn’t draw people to the seats.

Flyboys All the Kings Men

Flyboys came in fourth at the box office with just over $6 million in ticket sales. When compared to it’s $60 million budget, I’d say this was a flop too. I haven’t seen the entire movie, but the scenes I have seen weren’t too impressive. The dogfighting scenes were done very well — they better be with a $60 million budget — but Flyboys had some overly long dialogue scenes which I felt detracted from the movies main point.

Overall, there weren’t too many good movies to indulge in this weekend. I’d say see Jackass if you’re able to stomach it. The brain says don’t watch it, but for some odd reason, it’s impossible to look away…

Personally, my first choice for the weekend was Fearless but I’m not overly surprised at the success of Jackass. What I am surprised with is that All The King’s Men managed to make any money. It just looks awful and I have yet to read one positive review. That leaves me scratching my head. Maybe they should have just shelved this one. I doubt anyone would have missed it.

The funny thing about All the Kings Men is they — being the studio execs — knew it was going to flop. The release date kept being delayed and rightfully so.

I haven’t seen Fearless yet, but from what I’ve heard the action scenes are quite good while the dialogue is lacking. I wish there were more people out there who could write a good script…

All the Kings Men flopped because people are getting tired of celebrities like Sean Penn criticizing our country. People are showing Sean Penn and the executives that they let their voice of resentment be known by withholding their moviegoing dollar. Mr. Penn and his buddies can choose between celebrity and fortune or America bashing, but they won’t have both.

All the other films sucked. It had to be said. Jackass is what the world needs and no matter how many bad reviews and comments this show gets, it will always manage to make everyone laugh at least once. Yeah, it may be crude, violent, rude, degrading and offensive, but it’s so damn funny.
